In 1998, the Michigan Conference — state headquarters for the Seventh-day Adventist Church–was the first to establish a ministry for students attending non-Adventist colleges and universities.   They called it CAMPUS — the Center for Adventist Ministry to Public University Students.

CAMPUS is the most successful ministry of its kind in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Israel was part of the first batch of missionary interns which now total more than 100.  After completing the inaugural program, he served as its third program director for three years.  He then launched  and directed an extension of CAMPUS to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where he served as pastor near the campus of Michigan Tech for six years, creating and establishing the University Church Model.  He now serves as the director of the department of Public Campus Ministry for the Michigan Conference and works together with his friends to revolutionize campus ministry through the biblical message of the  Seventh-day Adventist Church.

We believe the people who work at CAMPUS — past and present — are among the most brilliant in Adventism and the world today.  They have been responsible for shaping a new generation of radically committed and highly intelligent Seventh-day Adventist leaders.
